Research has proven that truancy, in most instances, leads to delinquency, drug involvement and dropping out of school. When students become truant, everybody loses; students lose the benefits of instruction and ultimately credit.
Consequences:
- Attend less than 90% of class = loss of credit
- At 3 or more unexcused absences a district truancy intervention will be initiated for student and parents
- If unexcused absences reach or exceed 10 or more in a six month period, student and/or parent will be referred to Truancy Court for further intervention and monetary fines will be assessed
